FAQs

1. Getting the most out of our services.

1.1. How to use these FAQs?

There is no particular order to these FAQs. Use your browser's "Find in this page" facility to search for keywords.

1.2. Where can I find more information on your Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

See our SLAs listed for various Support options here.

1.3. Where is my Control Panel and how do I log in

You can log in to your Control Panel by going to http://www.yoursite.com/syscp. (Replace 'yoursite.com' with your website domain name!). You will be asked for your Control Panel password, this is initially the same as your FTP password.

Depending on your account type, there are several tabs in your Control Panel, where you can manage certain things such as adding/deleting Email Accounts, adding/deleting databases, adding/deleting sub-domains, change passwords etc. If your account is at the level where you can install packages, there are options for one click installations for things like shopping carts, forums etc.

1.4. How do I configure my email client to retrieve emails from my domain

Generic Information

Incoming Mail Server : mail.yoursite.com (change yoursite.com to match your website domain name)
Outgoing Mail Server : mail.yourisp.com (change yourisp.com to match the name of your ISP)
Username : m***** (replace the * with your given username)
Password : ****** (replace the * with your email password)

1.5. Can I access my emails from any computer via my web browser

Yes, goto http://www.yoursite.com/webmail (replace yoursite.com to match your website domain name) - Type in the email address of the email account you wish to log in to, then type in the password associated with that email account. You may have multiple email accounts, you can log in to any of them here, remember that each account may have a different password associated with it.

1.6. How do I upload files to my website

You can get upload website files using an FTP program. Your FTP details are available by logging into your Control Panel at http://www.yoursite.com/syscp. Then select the FTP tab, your FTP login details will then be shown. (with an option to change your FTP password if you can not remember it)

Summary of FTP details needed :-

  • FTP Server : www.yoursite.com (replace yoursite.com with the your actual website domain name)
  • FTP Username : w**** (replace **** with your actual username)
  • FTP Password : ***** (replace ***** with your actual password)

Note: your FTP Username & Password are initially the same as your Control panel login.

1.7. How are my website and database files backup up

Every Website and any installed databases are backed up daily to a backup location on the main server which houses your website; and also to a remote off-site location for extra redundancy. These backups are overwritten each day, therefore only the latest backup may be restored. However, you may opt to keep your own backups (explained in the next FAQ below) or you can upgrade your Service Level Agreement (SLA) to a package that includes incremental backups - these backups are charged by space used in Megabytes (Mb) and so you can restore from a backup as far back in time as your storage will allow.

By upgrading to a higher Service Level Agreement, as well as the daily backups mentioned, you can restore from backups created days, weeks, or even months in the past. See our SLAs for more information

1.8. How can I back up my own files and database

There are a few ways in which you can back up your own website files and database.

  1. Using an FTP program (and using the settings described in an earlier FAQ) you can download the website files to your computer. It is beyond the scope of this FAQ to recommend or show you how to use an FTP program, but you ar welcome to contact Technical Support for more information.
  2. Log into your website Control panel at http://www.yoursite.com/syscp. (Replace yoursite.com with your actual domain name!). Once logged in, goto Tools > Backups. From there you can request to backup your database and/or your website files. After they are backed up you can click on a backup set to download the zipped archive to your computer - you will need your FTP Username and Password to download these backups.
  3. Log into your website Control panel as descibed above, then choose the Databases tab then click on 'Manage Databases'. This opens up a PhpMyAdmin interface where you can manage your installed databases. It is beyond the scope of this FAQ to explain how to use PhpMyAdmin to backup or restore a database. You can either read the PhpMyAdmin documentation or contact Technical Support for more information.
